It’s not pee. It appears under my car in the winter because I can see it in the snow. No, it doesn’t smell like gas, and if I were leaking coolant at that rate I’d have had an issue long ago.
So wtf is the geeenish yellow under the car ?
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
UPDATE: Well, the internet is an amazing place, Oppo in particular I must say. See Wacko’s response in the comments for a link to a full explanation. But basically there’s a chemical reaction that occurs between the exhaust, heat shields, and salt-laden snow that creates this yellowish color.
I have been wondering this FOR YEARS and I will sleep better tonight. However, having never noticed any fluid level changes, I never really lost sleep over it, but this is so satisfying nonetheless. Cheers!

Would it be refrigerant dye?

melt-water, stained with rust or road salt/dirt?

Windshield washer fluid? Maybe from missing a bit when you fill it.

I mean, if your windshield washer fluid isn’t greenish, it’s probably coolant. There are a finite number and color of fluids that exist in a car and yours probably doesn’t have a blinker fluid tank you never knew about.
The only novel theory I can come up with is meltwater dripping off the undercarriage and taking some colorful soap or wax with it.

I’d imagine it’s rusty water dripping off the bottom of the car.

Gear oil is that color.

The gremlins releiving themselves. Set glue traps, and your electrical issues may clear up.

brake fluid?

I’m starting to wonder this. Like, it’s from the dead middle of the car laterally, but somewhat toward the front.

You may be right, but if it’s gear oil, I’d have had to top something off by now. Other than changing the oil of the t-case, I’ve never added any fluids to any diffs or the (manual) transmission.

this is awesome. I had the same thing happen. to make it worse, a few days before, the guy in front of me on the highway lost a box of crap. I had nowhere to go and probably would have been rear ended if i slammed on the brakes so i ran it over. I see that stuff in the snow and freaked out it was gas. I took a picture but it never showed up again. so i just figured it was something else.

YES exactly. I drive *a bit* like a hooligan in the winter, in my E46. So I’ve seen this before and kinda worried, but I also take good care of my cars, and I knew it wasn’t leaking any fluids... so I was highly confused and conflicted when I’d seen this in the past. I finally decided to ask the interwebz and there you go. An answer! I am so satisfied.

I dunno, set out a trap. If you do catch one, do not feed it after midnight or inject with spider genes.
